Description:

We are looking to recruit a Fire Maintenance Assistant to inspect, maintain, test and record fire safety equipment on campus. Must be currently enrolled at SUU and maintain 12 credit hours while working. 20 hours maximum a week while attending school and 40 hours during the summer months.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct monthly inspections on fire extinguishers
  • Conduct monthly inspections with emergency and exit lighting
  • Inspect eyewash stations monthly
  • Create work orders for any deficiencies with the systems inspected
  • Maintain monthly records on excel spreadsheet and keep up to date
  • Review Fire Book to make sure floor plans, maps, and documents are up to date
  • Replace batteries in residential style smoke detectors on campus annually
  • Notify Campus Fire Marshal of any code violations or deficiencies

Qualifications:

  • Must posess a valid Drivers License
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel)
  • Ability to climb ladders and carry 25 lbs
  • Good communication skills and works well with others
  • Works individually to carry out assignments
